Poster of the Week

We're back with a new poster for your enjoyment. This stylized French poster features  Rhett and Scarlett embracing against a fiery background...one so fiery, in fact, that Scarlett appears to be quite the redhead.

Poster of the Week

This week, we're pleased to add Norway to our GWTW league of nations, with this charming poster circa the 1950s-60s.

Poster of the Week

Following in its tradition of producing vibrant GWTW posters, Italy brings us another fiery rendition of Rhett and Scarlett, this time fleeing Atlanta.

Poster of the Week

Alright, after some technical difficulties with Blogger, we're back in action with a now somewhat belated poster of the week. We think this highly unusual German poster looks like a guy's version of GWTW--war plus Scarlett in a red dress. What do you think?

Poster of the Week

This week, Poland offers up a monochromatic interpretation of Rhett and Scarlett at the Atlanta bazaar. Oh Polska, why must you come up with the gloomiest Gone with the Wind posters ever

Poster of the Week

This French poster (date unknown) features a rather eclectic mix of scenes from GWTW. We've got Rhett and Scarlett embracing, convicts toiling away at the lumber mill, Scarlett shooting the Yankee, an unused take of Scarlett flirting with the Tarletons, Scarlett at the bazaar, and a few scenes of Melly thrown in for good measure. Phew, that's a lot going on in one poster!

Poster of the Week

We northward from Italy and on to Belgium for this week's poster, which features the well-used image of a swooning Scarlett in Rhett's arms. Owning to the country's dual cultural tradition, this circa 1940s-50s poster comes in both Dutch and French language versions.

Poster of the Week

Looks like we've got another entry in the "badly drawn Vivien Leigh" contest on display here in this 27x40 Italian poster (date unknown). Alas, poor Vivien!

Poster of the Week

It's time for another German Gone with the Wind poster! It's certainly less avant garde than the first German poster we featured, but still maintains a certain uniqueness, this time by appearing to show Rhett sweeping Scarlett off her feet... in the middle of a wind storm.

Poster of the Week

Jolly old England is the nation of origin for this week's poster, which features Rhett and Scarlett standing in front of Tara in their surprise party attire.  Also, is it just me or does this poster do a really awful job of depicting Vivien Leigh? You'd think her own countrymen would be able to generate a more accurate likeness!

Poster of the Week

Germany makes its Poster of the Week debut with an entry that's both fantastical and vaguely disturbing. Scarlett surveys the war dead during the siege of Atlanta... while the superimposed head of Rhett Butler looms in the background. Is it a metaphor for the omnipresent role Rhett plays in Scarlett's life--or just a case of questionable unique poster art? You be the judge.

Poster of the Week

This Spanish poster (date unknown) takes an unusual approach for GWTW advertisements: mainly, there's very little of Scarlett or Rhett to be seen, although it does look like we have a teeny-tiny version of Scarlett in her white ruffled dress along side some mysterious male figure, either Gerald from the sunset scene or perhaps Rhett himself. Anyone want to get out a microscope to confirm?

Poster of the Week

Eastern Europe is the setting for this week's edition--and we've got not one but two  1960s-era posters for you. The first is a 14x20 poster from Romania, while the latter is a 18x26 poster from the former Yugoslavia. And, yes, both are vastly superior to the Polish love fans poster we featured earlier.

Poster of the Week

Scarlett and Rhett get the single-color treatment in this set of matching Spanish posters (date unknown). Rather trippy looking, don't you think?

Poster of the Week

After selections from Sweden, Belgium and South Korea, we have another international GWTW poster for you. This week's poster comes from Russia (date unknown), and features Rhett and Scarlett set against a fiery sunset and, curiously, a sculpted archway.
